Grandpa was born to LaVell and Orpha (Alger) Robinson on August 24, 1934 in Oxnard, California. He was the fourth of seven children and had a happy childhood growing up in California, Utah, and Nevada. He graduated from high school in Parma, Idaho and lived there the rest of his life. He married his sweetheart, Norene, for time and eternity in the Cardston Alberta Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on September 22, 1954. Grandma passed away in 2014, just before their 60th wedding anniversary.
Grandpa provided for his five children (Craig, Kevin, Karen, Jeff and Sheryl) by working as a farmer in Idaho. He grew the most delicious apples, watermelon and corn you have ever tasted. Grandpa loved music. He played the tuba in the 25th Army National Guard Band for 10 years and had a gorgeous baritone singing voice. Grandpa was a skilled carpenter and crafted many beautiful items in his wood shop. Grandpa loved to play games, and he could whoop almost anybody in ping pong, horseshoes and cards. But I think his favorite pastime was connecting with people by visiting with them and, most likely, finding a common ancestor on the family tree. Grandpa had a way of showing genuine interest in your life and making you feel at ease in his presence.
Grandpa served in numerous church callings through the years, including several missions with Grandma-first as temple workers in the Boise Temple, managers in the Boise Bishop’s Storehouse, and in Adam-ondi-Ahman, Missouri, a historical church site. Grandpa served as a Bishop of the Parma Ward and as a Boy Scout Leader.
He has looked forward to reuniting with those who have gone before him, most recently his son, Craig and his wife Norene.
He is survived by his sons, Kevin (Miriam) Robinson and Jeff (Laural) Robinson; his daughters, Karen (Hal) Stead and Sheryl (Dan) Baker and his daughter-in-law Trudy Robinson. He is also survived by his brother Lynn (Juna) Robinson. Grandpa is loved by 30 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren and many, many friends.
