Dennis Niels Nielsen, was born on October 28, 1934 in Salt Lake City Utah to Burton Lars and Carolyn (Ann) Nielsen. He passed peacefully at home on October 6, 2020 surrounded by his family in Payson, Utah. He and his family lived in Utah until he was in 5th grade, he then moved to Filer, Idaho. He attended school in Filer the remaining years and graduated in 1951. He enlisted in the Air Force as a Basic Airman in 1953, but was honorably discharged on December 16th due to medical reasons.

On December 30, 1953 he married Marlene Cole. He worked for Amalgamated Sugar Co, Woolworths, Farming, Pacific Fruit, Red Steer Drive-In’s, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and then became owner of the White House Drive-Inn and Motel. Dennis served in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints by being a Home Teacher, Young Men’s Presidency, Scouting Program, and a calling to go every night and check on the security of the building.

Dennis had lots of civic activities, such as coaching basketball and baseball. He was a bus driver and volunteer firefighter for the community of Marsing. He was a proud member of the Lion’s Club. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, watching sports on TV and of course, supporting his kids and grandkids in their activities and sports.

He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and love of his life, Marlene Cole Nielsen. His children; Cindy Nielsen, Roy Nielsen, Jeff (Ellen) Nielsen, Kelly (Melissa) Nielsen, and Sandee (Brandon) Fackrell. Daughter-in-laws; Janie Nielsen and Tracy Nielsen, 19 Grandchildren, 49 Great Grandchildren, and numerous Nieces and Nephews. He is also survived by a brother, Ken Nielsen and sister, Janet (Jim) Herd.

He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers; Ed, Tim, and Doug, and two sons; Jerry Nielsen and Voss Nielsen.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at 11:00 am at the Marsing/Homedale Cemetery. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.dakanfuneralchapel.com.
