Tribute

Dale Wayne Piercy, 74, passed away peacefully at home on January 10, 2023 of natural causes. He was surrounded by his family and friends over the holidays during his illness.

Dale was born on December 28, 1948 in Ontario, Oregon to Wayne and Louise Piercy of Adrian. Two sisters were added to the family, and they moved to a farm outside of Parma, Idaho in 1957. He graduated from Parma High School in 1967 and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from the University of Idaho in 1971. He moved back to Parma to partner with his father on the family farm, where he resided for the rest of his life. In 1994, Dale married Ramona Plaza, the cowgirl of his dreams. Together they ran the farm operations and spent relaxing time at their cabin, where they hosted family and friends throughout the years.

Dale followed his grandfather and father’s legacy of farming and ranching, raising various row crops, cattle, horses, mules, swine, and enough chickens to supply free eggs for neighbors and relatives. He had a passion for feeding people! He was a reputable cook and barbecue master; friends and relatives gathered every year in his butcher shop to process his home grown beef and pork. He enjoyed hosting BBQs and dinner feasts where there was always more tasty food than the crowd could possibly consume. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and adventurous travels with Ramona.

Dale will be remembered as a jovial, generous, rough & tough cowboy in bib overalls—a genuine and unique character who loved to tease his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed the distinct reputation attributed to him by his nieces and nephews as Santa Claus Extraordinaire. He will be greatly missed by all.

Dale was preceded in death by his mother, father, and his younger sister Joyce Constantine (Stew). Survivors include his wife Ramona Plaza, his sister Ellen (Norm) Batt, nephews Wayne (Erica) Batt, Nicholas Dale (Alyson) Batt, Judd Constantine, Erik (Rebeca) Plaza, and Andrew (Prudence) Srack, and nieces Wendy (Mike) Gonos, Katie (Nate) Cahill, Brook (Troy) Tiddens, Hailey Constantine (Luke Pugh), and Erin (Andrew) Gilbo. Significant in-law families include Denise Plaza (Doug Srack), Kevin (Beckie) Plaza, and Brien (Beverly) Plaza.

The family is grateful to Hospice and especially to Angela Boston, who called Dale “Papa,” as her lifelong father figure. The loving care and devotion during his illness is greatly appreciated.

As per Dale’s request, there will be no service.
