Chuck was born in Modesto, California on November 10, 1935 to Joseph and Amelia Bettencourt. He grew up in Patterson, California and attended elementary school at Northmead, Las Palmas and graduated from Patterson High School in 1954, where he lettered in baseball.
Chuck met the love of his life, Ann Montgomery, while at Patterson High, where they both were students. Chuck served in the US Army in 1954, where he was stationed in France. Upon his return Chuck and Ann were married. They had three children Tammy, Lisa and Mark.
After he returned from the service, Chuck worked hauling hay and later worked for Evans Telephone Company for 20 years. Chuck had grown up in the dairy industry and in 1972 started back in the dairy business. In 1975 Chuck and his family moved to Parma, Idaho. Chuck and his son operated the dairy until his retirement. After his retirement he went back to riding and training horses. He had a horse place in the Top 10 Snaffle Bit Futurity.
Chuck loved his family and was very proud of his children and grandchildren’s accomplishments. He spent many hours at sporting events, concerts or programs that the kids were involved.
