Carl Crookham

January 24, 1943 ~ December 23, 2021 (age 78) 78 Years Old

Tribute

Carl was born and raised in Caldwell, Idaho. Parents Frank B. Crookham
and Jean Crookham. He is survived by his wife Jill, sister Linda Eggiman
brother Wade and adopted daughter Lynn Crookham Noonan. Graduated
from Caldwell High School, spent 1 year at College of Idaho and finished his
college education at Idaho State University with a bachelors degree in
mechanical engineering and education. He spent 30 years teaching in Denver
Public Schools where he created the highest drop out recovery program in the
US. Teens taught elementary kids along the Platte River in the center of
Denver. Of the participants 80% finished high school and some went on to
college. Winning many awards including Colorado Teacher of the year 3
times, Denver 150 Unsung Hero's Award (Denver volunteers who have made
an exceptional contribution to Denver's growth) and National Wildlife
Federation's National Conservation Achievement Award to name a few. Carl
was a teacher at heart teaching something everywhere he went. Guitar
lessons, landscaping and coaching swimming. If someone needed help he
was always first in line. He loved fishing and spent many hours with his
father and nephew Kevin along the Big Wood River. He liked working in his
workshop and created unusual walking sticks as a hobby. He changed many
people's lives for the better and he will be missed by many. Donations may be given to Caldwell YMCA.
