Bonnie Marie Barnes, 94 of Wilder, passed away Friday, January 27, 2017 at home of natural causes. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 6th at the Church of Christ, 10th & Ustick, Caldwell. A viewing will be held prior to services from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Lower Boise Cemetery, Parma. Arrangements are under the care of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.

Bonnie was born December 8, 1922 in Toledo, Missouri to William A. and Ellen (Duckworth) Mahan. She was raised with 5 brothers and sisters during the depression. Bonnie attended school through the 6th grade then stayed home to help her family. She met Ellis Clyde Kelly and they were married in 1947 in Missouri. They moved to Idaho with their three young children in 1954 and had their fourth child shortly after. Ellis passed away in 1968 leaving Bonnie to care for their family which she did with love. She worked at Ore Ida Foods in Ontario for several years.
Bonnie married Chester McCarty and shared a few short years together before he died from illness. With her children grown, she packed up and moved back to her family in Missouri, where she reunited with a childhood classmate, Laurel Barnes. They were married and lived many happy years together before he passed away.
Bonnie moved back to Idaho to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She loved to cook and went to work at the lunch counter at M & W Market in Caldwell. Bonnie had many happy memories working with her daughter, Patsy and dear friend, LaVerne Winslow. Bonnie loved caring for her family and was a wonderful homemaker. She made many beautiful quilts that she gifted to her children and grandchildren. Bonnie also loved her church family and being a member of the Church of Christ in Caldwell.
Bonnie is survived by her son, Robert (Karen) Kelly of Wilder; daughter, Ellen Stotts of Caldwell; son-in-law, Dick Barnes of Caldwell; brother, Junior Mahan of KS; sister, Fern Ledbetter of PA; 4 grandchildren, Richie Barnes, Glenda (Mike) Baldner, Christina (Brad) Gardner and Brandy (Jefferey) Lawson; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ellen Mahan; spouses, Ellis Kelly, Chester McCarty and Laurel Barnes; daughter, Patsy Barnes; son, Dwylan Kelly; son-in-law, Everett Stotts; grandson, Brian Kelly; 2 brothers and 1 sister.
