Bessie K Hibbard

Bessie Kathryn (Mattingly) Hibbard, 96, of Wilder, passed away Friday, October 1, 2021 at Owyhee Health and Rehabilitation in Homedale where she had lived for the past 2 years.
Bessie was born in Liberal, MO to Marion L. and Mamie M. (Price) Mattingly on October 27, 1924, the oldest of 4 children. When Bessie was 11 years old the family moved to Wilder, arriving on September 21, 1936.
Bessie married Arliss Ray Hibbard on January 19, 1945 in Caldwell. They were married for 33 years before Arliss passed away in 1978. Bessie and Arliss lived and farmed in the Dixie Community, between Wilder and Parma. Bessie worked hard on the farm, milking cows, irrigating, driving tractors and trucks and anything else needed. They were a great example of how a true team works. They sold the farm in 1977 and moved to Wilder.
Bessie was a woman of great faith; her faith was the guiding light in her life. She read her Bible and prayed for her family daily. She was a lifelong member of the Wilder Free Holiness Church, the last founding member of the church.
Even though Bessie didn’t have children of her own, she loved and spoiled all the children in her life.
Bessie is survived by her sister Edith Lyle of Roseburg, OR, Brother Kenneth (Betty) Mattingly of Wilber OR, cousins Polly Rondeau of Sutherlin OR and Linda (Ken) Dillon of Wilder and numerous nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her husband, parents, and brother Lawrence Mattingly.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at Dakan Funeral Chapel, 504 South Kimball Ave., Caldwell. Viewing will be one hour before the service starting at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Concluding services will take place at the Wilder Cemetery.
