Barbara L Hume

Barbara Lee Hume, 89 of Caldwell, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at Owyhee Health and Rehabilitation where she lived for the past two years. Barbara Allison was born to Lloyd and Golda Allison on October 16, 1932 and was the eighth of eleven children. She grew up in Caldwell on a farm in the Centerpoint community and loved working on the farm alongside her parents and siblings. She was very active in school and was quite the basketball player. She graduated from Notus High School in 1951, attended the University of Idaho, and returned home to the farm. Barbara fell in love with the neighbor boy, Wayne Hume, and they were married on June 15, 1952. Wayne passed away in 1986; they were married 34 years. Wayne was the love of Barbara's life.
Barbara and Wayne adopted three children: Bruce, Bob, and Jennifer. Barbara was an amazing mother and wife and dearly loved to care for her family. She was the ultimate caregiver; being a wife and mother meant so much to her. Barbara participated in the Centerpoint Ladies Club, taught Sunday School, led several Bible studies in her home, in churches, and with youth groups. She always encouraged and supported her children, attending games, field trips, and helping at their school. Barbara adored her grandchildren and loved to have them in her home; they brought her much happiness. Barbara loved Jesus and was a faithful servant. Even when she was no longer able to recall many things, Barbara never forgot her love in Christ, her love of hymns, and numerous Bible verses. Barbara took great comfort in scripture, her favorite (Romans 10:9 & 10) ... That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God has raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Over the last two years, Barbara was loved and cared for by the kind staff at Owyhee Health and Rehabilitation. Her family is so thankful for the love and outstanding care they provided her.
Barbara is survived by her children: Bruce (Ramona) Hume of Greenleaf, Jennifer Brock of Caldwell, and daughter-in-law Charlene Hume of Caldwell; her grandchildren: Sarah (Paul) Catalino, Nathan (Caroline) Hume, Keisha (Drew) Rath, Abby Hume, and Wyatt (Bailey) Hume, Colby Brock and Hannah Brock; great grandchildren Ashtyn, Lainee, Tennyson, Avenlee, Corbin and Peyton; two sisters: Ruth Robertson and Loree Swartz; numerous nephews and nieces. Barbara was preceded in death by her son-in-law Lance Brock, grandson Elijah Brock, son Bob Hume, husband Wayne Hume, four sisters, four brothers and her parents.
Memorials may be given to Owyhee Health Rehabilitation Center, 108 W. Owyhee Ave., Homedale, Idaho 83628.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Wilder Cemetery in Wilder, Idaho.
