Barbara Ann Arni of Caldwell Idaho was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on August 22, 2021.
Barbara was born in Greenwood, MO to Harold W. Simonin and Ruth O. (Edison) Simonin on April 24, 1944. She was a treasured sister to 6 brothers and 1 sister: Kenneth Simonin (Wife Delores) of Odessa, MO, Thomas Simonin (Wife Dixie) of Independence, MO, John Simonin of Marshall, MO, Daniel Simonin (Wife Debi) of Blue Eye, MO. Her brothers Lawrence Simonin, Gene Simonin and her sister Bonnie Maubach preceded her in death.

She graduated High School in Marshall, MO. On August 11, 1962 she married her High School sweetheart, Larry F. Arni, who has always lovingly referred to her as his “Barbie Doll”. They had recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary.

Barbara was a loving mother to 2 daughters: Lisa Diehm (Husband Bob) who resides in Henderson, NV and Tammy Vogt (Husband James) who resides in Ontario, OR. Barbara had 6 grandchildren: Sage & Cortland Diehm of Henderson, NV, Kyler Vogt (Wife Becky) of Estacada, OR, and Audrey, Anna, & Brenna Vogt of Ontario, OR.

Barbara treasured her nieces and nephews and loved her time with each of them. She also felt privileged to share her home with precious nephews, Brian & Brad Patet as they grew up.

Barbara spent a lifetime in ministry with an emphasis on youth ministry. She was a lifelong student of The Word and gave her life to others freely and with joy. Highlights of her ministries were her many ministries and role of church secretary in Eldon, MO and serving on staff in Pueblo, CO as well as ministry at her husband’s side in Bethalto IL. She also was a speaker at many churches in the “road” years of her family’s ministry.

She had a gift of hospitality. Her door was always open to all. She was an amazing cook and loved having many around her table.

There will be a graveside service at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Caldwell ID on September 13, 2021 at a time to be determined. There will also be a memorial service in Marshall MO that will be scheduled at a later time.

The funds will go toward temporary home/shelter for John Mayko Lymat and his family, the “adopted” son of Barbara’s daughter Tammy and husband James, as well as other families that they will be sheltering with. The family thanks you for your love, prayers, and support during this time.


There will be a viewing held at Dakan Funeral Chapel on Friday, September 10th from 4pm-6pm. please stop under the car port, and come through the door on the north side of the building. Due to Covid and at the request of the family, please keep the group size to a minimum and/or one person at a time. A Grave side service will be held Monday, September 13 at 2:00pm at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Caldwell.
