Avona Phylis Russi

"Avona P. Russi, cherished daughter, devoted wife, loving mother, faithful friend, child of God; went home to Jesus on Feb 15, 2019. She passed peacefully in her sleep, after a heroic and hard fought fight against cancer, at her home in Caldwell, Idaho.

Avona (Von) was born at home in Caldwell, ID, on November 24, 1929 to Beryl and Bernice Morse. After receiving her BA from Iowa State, she became a registered dietitian. She married (a very fortunate) Ralph Russi on July 4, 1952, The couple celebrated 66 plus years together. They had five children, seventeen grandchildren, and (to date) one great grandchild.

Von loved to keep busy and enjoyed challenges. She painted pictures and knitted, she hated cooking, but loved food (especially sweets). She became a licensed pilot, traveled the world and owned successful businesses. She loved people and had the most generous, giving heart. She was faithful to share God’s love and salvation with people everywhere.

However, Von’s greatest loves were (and still are) Jesus, Ralph, her children and her grandchildren.

Von, (mom, honey, momma, grandma) is greatly loved and will be incredibly missed by so many."

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
