Alice Rose Smith

Alice Rose Smith died peacefully at her residence in Idaho Falls, Idaho, at the age of 81 on June 8, 2018.  She was born April 2, 1937 in Crawford, Nebraska.  She grew up the “darling” of her family having been born the youngest and 14 years after the next youngest of her 3 siblings.  Alice was preceded in death by her sister, Edna, her brother, Carl, her brother, Harold, and also, her parents, Mae and William Witzig.

Alice moved to Caldwell, Idaho, when she was 7-years-old and lived in Caldwell most of her life except for the last two years where she lived in Idaho Falls.  She graduated from Caldwell High School in 1955.  Alice’s greatest love was researching family history and doing genealogy all over the country for nearly 50 years.  She was an authority in Caldwell history especially the history about the Johnston brothers who settled Canyon County in 1864.

Alicce was also a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and died firm in the faith.  She was kind, sweet, and had a loving personality always putting others before herself.

Surviving Alice are her sons Bryan Smith residing in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Steven Smith residing in Caldwell, Idaho.

A viewing will be held on June 13, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. at Dakan Funeral Chapel in Caldwell, Idaho.  Funeral services will begin at the same location at 10:30 a.m.
