Virginia Mae Maxwell, age 91 died March 22, 2017 in Caldwell, Idaho. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the United Methodist Church, Caldwell. A private interment will be at the Wilder Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. 459-3629. Virginia was born on May 8, 1925 at Wilder, Idaho. The daughter of Charles Vernon Karn and Roma Pearl Cooper Karn. She attended Wilder schools where she was involved in many activities; she was a cheerleader and graduated in the class of 1943. After graduation she was a Canyon County Deputy Treasurer for three and one half years and worked about a year at C.C. Anderson Stores main office in Boise. She married Ed Lee “Jake” Maxwell, Jr. on December 7, 1947 at Wilder Idaho, when he returned from his service in the army. Jake and Virginia knew each other as children growing up in Wilder. After retirement they continued to live on their farm East of Wilder.They were parents of a beloved daughter, Virginia “Ginny” Lee who was named for both parents.
Virginia was an active member of the Wilder United Methodist Church and Wilder United Methodist Women; past Worthy Matron of Beulah Chapter #75, O.E.S. of Wilder; past guardian of Bethel #24 Jobs Daughters, a member of the Wednesday Bridge Club and an original member of the Jolly Janes. She enjoyed working with the youth and had been a Brownie Scout leader, Girl Scout assistant, M.Y.F. Leader and helped teach Sunday School and Bible School. She served as room mother at Wilder for many years and worked on the Finance Committee for the Wilder Community Auction.
Virginia adored her family and was extremely proud of her two grandchildren, Suzanne Denise Church Bauscher and Michael Edward Church.
She and Jake enjoyed attending many of their high school events and ballgames. They enjoyed many family gatherings centered around barbecues and swimming in their backyard. Later in life, they continued to enjoy many precious times with them, their spouses, and their great grandchildren; Ryan, Lauren and Megan.
Virginia was a kind, thoughtful and caring person, a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her daughter Virginia “Ginny Lee”(Tom) Church, of Caldwell, her granddaughter, Suzanne Denise (Dr. Brett) Bauscher of Caldwell, grandson Michael Edward Church (Alison) of Hood River, Oregon, her great grandson Ryan Thomas Bauscher of Calwell, her great granddaughters Lauren Ramey Church and Megan Lee Church of Hood River, Oregon, a sister in law Ardes Karn of Caldwell and several much loved nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Ed Lee “Jake”, her parents, her brother Chuck Karn her sister Marjorie Bushnell and brother in law Robert Bushnell.
