Riley Allen Bushman

Riley Allen Bushman, 81, passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at his home in Middleton, Idaho. A viewing will be held Thursday evening, August 31st from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 1st at Dakan Chapel, with burial to follow at Middleton Cemetery. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.dakanfuneralchapel.com
Riley was born on August 3, 1936 in Ogden, Utah. He graduated from Ben Lommand High School in 1955 and attended Steven Henager College, where he studied accounting. During his life Riley worked as a driver, meat cutter, and painter; for the US Postal Service and the IRS before becoming a full time rancher.
Riley had a zest for life. He loved his family and spending time with them. He loved hunting and fishing, cooking and entertaining, and the New York Yankees.
Riley had previously been married to Margaret Sampson. To this union, 5 children were born; Riley K. Bushman (Lois), Dawn Weller (Steve), Rock Bushman, Rick Bushman (Tina), Cidny McFarland (Jon). Riley is survived by his wife of 45 years, Julie Marie Bushman; and their child Kristen Booth (Bryan); 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 4 sisters, Norma Beazor, Janet Burger, Mary Malan & Margaret Olesen.
Riley was preceded in death by his beloved mother Anna Mary Mikkelsen Holmes, his devoted step-father, Lavere “Lefty” Holmes, and his father Arthur Allen Bushman.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations are being accepted for the Riley A. Bushman Memorial Scholarship Fund for Hunter’s Education through the Greater Middleton Parks and Recreation District.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Mark Parent, Riley’s cardiologist of 25 years; and Dr. Gretchen Kohler & Dr. Janat O’Donnell, for their excellent care.
