Richard (Dick) Wayne Gerber, 77 of Caldwell, passed away on Friday, March 17, 2017. He was born in 1939 in Monroe, Wisconsin, to Emma Cockroft and William Gerber and was one of four children. Dick received his Masters in Engineering before proudly serving his country for four years. Upon leaving his service with the US Army, he returned to school and earned his Medical Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. While there Dick met Dorothy Huebner whom he married in 1967. They eventually moved to Caldwell in 1975 where they raised their children, Andrew and Diane.
Dick was a doctor in the Caldwell and Nampa area for over 40 years. Much of his time was at Mercy Hospital in Nampa, where he was the Medical Director of the Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation center and he volunteered time speaking at many alcohol and drug dependency conferences. During his life, Dick could often be found enjoying the great outdoors while hiking, skiing, mountain biking, kayaking or rafting.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 24th at Boone Memorial Presbyterian Church in Caldwell under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.dakanfuneralchapel.com
