Tribute

Lois J. King peacefully passed away in her sleep on April 8, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. Preceding her in death were her parents, Mary and Roy Overmeyer; her daughter, Eloise (Tootie) Marie Raleigh; her son, Edward Michael King; a grandson, Jonathan King; and her husband, Earl Michie King. She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Jean Allen; her brother, Chuck Overmeyer; two sisters, Dorothy Kincaid and Doris Kay Lessard; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lois cherished moments with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She had a special bond with them and always looked forward to their visits. Lois's life was marked by significant milestones. She married her high school sweetheart, Thomas F. Baker, in September 1951, and they had a daughter, Rhonda Jean Baker, on July 7, 1952. After Tom was called back to the Navy during the Korean War, sadly their marriage didn't withstand the challenges. Later, Lois married the love of her life, Earl Michie King, on July 5, 1955. They were blessed with two children, Eloise Marie King (born April 21, 1956) and Edward Michael King (born June 3, 1957), and enjoyed 65 years of love, laughter, and companionship. Lois's home was always welcoming, with a pot of coffee ready for visitors. Mom liked to bowl on a team and would often take her daughters with her when she went to practice. Mom loved to golf. When she couldn't golf any longer she would either sit at the kitchen table or on the patio and watch the golfers. Lois was not only smart but also had a keen sense of business, playing a vital role behind every success. Despite battling cancer for 14 years, she remained a fighter with a sense of humor intact. Lois's contributions to her community were significant, reflecting her caring nature and strength. I love you and miss you Mom. I'm going to miss our morning coffee and games at the kitchen table. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Journeys Hospice, Angels Among Us Caregivers, the compassionate staff at St. Luke's Meridian Cancer Center and Dakan Funeral Chapel. Lois King will be deeply missed but remembered with love and admiration by many.
