Junior Dale McHenry, of Coeur D’Alene, Idaho, was born April 22, 1930 and passed away July 21, 2017 in his home surrounded by his loving family.
Junior is survived by his loving wife, Novella Marie McHenry of Coeur D’Alene; 3 sons, Clifton Earl McHenry (Natalie) of Coeur D’Alene, Jerry Dale McHenry (Pennie) of Caldwell, and Russell Wayne McHenry of Coeur D’Alene; 2 daughters, Connie Faye Weihi (LaVern) of Caldwell and Bonnie Lee White (Jeff) of Caldwell; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Virginia Shiley of Auburn; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Earl Perry and Leola Mable McHenry, sister Linda Lee Hittle, 3 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
Junior was born and raised in Middleton, Idaho. He enlisted in the US Army at the age of 19 and served 3 ½ years as a Corporal. During his service in the Army, he fought in the Korean War. For his service to his country, Junior was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, and the Republic of South Korean War Service Medal. He then transferred to the US Navy and served 16 ½ years as a First Class Torpedoman.
After retiring from the Navy, he went to work for JR Simplot Company as a mechanic. He resided in Parma and retired from Simplot’s after 22 years. In 2008 he and Novella moved to Coeur D’Alene where he loved to drive “the loop” and look for wildlife. He loved to fish, hunt and take care of his cows.
A viewing will be held Friday evening, July 28th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. A private graveside inurnment will be held at a later date. Condolences may be shared at www.dakanfuneralchapel.com
