The Laca family will always be near and dear to our hearts forever. They opened their hearts and home to a Football coach and his family when rentals were few and far between in the big city of Parma. They totally entrenched us in their lives by including us for many years in their Christmas Eve traditions! Julian and Eileen treated us and our 2 boys as one of their own, and from what I have been told, they opened up their home to others as well.
Julian was always a calming and positive influence in my coaching philosophy and outlook. He seemed to always find the good in even the most dire situation. He will be in our hearts forever as a kind and giving friend, father, husband, and Grandfather. God Bless you Julian!

Sending my love and thoughts to the Laca family. I will always remember Mr. Laca and all the support he gave me and my teammates through all the sports over the years. Even into college. I enjoyed him being a part of my school and activities. He was one of my favorite people. We looked up to him in more ways than one. When I think of home, I think of Parma. The Laca family will always be part of that loving memory of home. Sendimg hugs across the miles. Much love, Alicia

Laca family I will always treasure my time spent with your family.I have great memories of Julian he was always there to share a joke or a story and he always found a way to lift your spirits. All of our kids have great thoughts of Mr. Laca. I'm pretty sure that Julian is either playing or coaching a game in the next life or maybe getting a T from the ref. I loved sitting with Julian, Larry, Jess, and Henry on what they called old men's row at the basketball games, they don't come any better than the Big Guy. Love and Prayers to all Brian Deb and Family.

Dearest Laca family,
Sending you all healing, comforting prayers and positive energy. I think Julian was the perfect example of a positive energy force. I have known Julian since I was in Jr. High School at Vallivue. He was officiating a ball game and my father, Tony Gabiola, asked me if I wanted to meet the tallest Basque in the world! I thought he was just joking ...as coming from a Basque family myself, the word "tall" was never used to describe anyone in my culture. It was almost like meeting a celebrity, not just because he was tall, but because of his friendly and personable presence. I saw him off and on at numerous athlectic, church, cultural, social, and cultural events for over 40 years. I took great pride in saying hello, visiting with him, introducincing him to my friends and family, and still having him remember me and call me by name, after all that time. Although I was not closely connected, I felt a kinship to him. I had much respect for his kindness, and the contagious encouraging spirit of his, that he generously shared with the many lives he touched and influenced... like mine. We are all lucky, blessed, and better people for knowing him. There is no doubt that perpetual light shines upon Julian and the powerful light of the positive and caring spirit within him, will also continue to shine brightly, and remain very much alive in the hearts of all he knew and loved!
Thank you for sharing him... God Bless!

To the Laca family, we are heartbroken for all of you. Julian was one of the rare gems in this world. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and a friend to so many.I will truly miss seeing his friendly face. I'm certain he exchanged his earthly body for a set of wings and is flying with the angels with a basketball in one hand and a baseball in the other.

There really are not words to describe the loss of someone like Julian who was so full of grace, love and kindness. Our prayers for strength and fortitude for the Laca family go up today to lift them in prayer and thanksgiving for Julian and for the days to come. All our love, The Stifflers.

As a transfer student to Parma High School in the 80's, I'll never forget the caring welcome and sincere devotion to help ease our family's transition during that difficult time in our lives. No doubt he had a hand in helping me find part time work at the school shoveling snow one year, recognizing our family's financial challenges. He also had a knack for knowing just how far to let students test the limits while, at the same time, garnishing respect from those same adolescents. May "Mr. Laca" rest in peace as his legacy lives on with his posterity.

Julian was a wonderful person in every sense of the word. We always enjoyed our time spent with him. We'll always remember our car trip to Coeur d' Alene to the School Board convention and the fun and interesting conversations we shared.
We are very sorry for your family's loss. May the memories that mean the most to you live forever in your heart.

Eileen and family-

I'd like you all to know that I always thought a lot of Julian and that I share in your grief and in your sorrow at his passing. He played an instrumental role in my life during my formative years as my principal at Parma Junior High and even though I was somewhat of an ornery kid, I always had the deepest respect for him. He was also a good friend to my dad, Larry, for many years and that friendship was a tremendous comfort to dad during the illness of his final months back in 2012. Julian was one of the good guys and he will be missed by all who knew him.

May the Peace of Christ be with all of you during this time of grief.

When I think of 1989 Parma High School, I picture Julian Laca in his coaching polo close enough to the basketball court to catch a missed call by a referee while enjoying a friendly catch up with someone from another school.
My condolences to Laca's and his extended Parma family. What a honorable life!

What can one say about a man who embodies the best there is? He was my all time favorite teacher and mentor. His kindness and acceptance of a shy insecure student made me feel like I could conquer the world. He had a grace and humility that showed love to everyone without exception. Heaven has accepted a truly amazing man and servant to God. He served people and now He belongs to Heaven where he has achieved his just rewards. Much love and prayers to all his family and loved ones. We'll all miss you.
