Eugenio “Gene” Montano Enrico, 64 of Marsing, died peacefully in his sleep on Friday, December 29, 2017 after losing his battle with stomach cancer.
Gene is survived by his wife, Lynette; brothers, Melquiades (Durene), Domingo (Paula), Manuel (Carla), and Samuel (Lela) DeAngelo; sister, Pauline (Todd); children, Bethany Gepner (Chris) and Cameron Enrico (Shanae); and grandchildren, Josephine, Cabri, Camberet, Ceiralise, Clayton and Cassity; along with many nephews and nieces.
Born on September 19, 1953 to Melquiades and Rita Enrico in Caldwell, Gene lived in both Arizona and Idaho until 1959 when his family settled first in Wilder then Greenleaf. Gene graduated from Vallivue High School in 1971.
He married Connie Gepner in 1978 and they divorced in 1988. After another brief marriage, Gene stayed single for many years until he married Lynette (Bates) Donley in 2005. They had twelve loving, adventurous years together.
Family was very important to him and he spent as much time as possible with his grandkids baking and doing fun projects. Cooking with his brothers for family BBQs always meant great food! Gene loved the outdoors, especially fishing. He fished bass tournaments for several years and loved to have a good time doing it. Nothing put a bigger grin on his face than catching a big bass. Other hobbies included working with leather, making holsters and purses, and making beautiful southwest style jewelry. Gene also enjoyed shooting his recurve bow, and later his compound bow, with his wife Lynette. His sense of humor and generous heart will be missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at Deer Flat Free Methodist Church on Thursday, January 18th at 11:00 a.m. A dinner for the family will follow at 1:00 p.m. Condolences and memories may be shared with Gene’s family at www.dakanfuneralchapel.com
