Douglas Charles Alvaro 1962 ~ 2017, 54, passed away at his home in Wilder on February 15, 2017. Born November 6, 1962 in Caldwell, Idaho, Doug lived most of his life in Caldwell and the surrounding area. He graduated from Caldwell High School in 1981, and soon after met Amanda Grau. Amanda and Doug were married July 9, 1988.
Doug loved his family, friends, playing sports, the outdoors, and his animals. He played a variety of sports growing up in Caldwell as well as in his adult life. Doug was very active throughout his life. He loved riding horses and participated in many team roping events throughout the Treasure Valley. He loved to hunt, fish and just loved the outdoors.
Doug and his brothers, Brad and Darin, are board members of the Alvaro Athletic Group (AAG). AAG is a non-profit established in 1986 to raise funds to support Caldwell High School students, and the surrounding community. The Charlie Alvaro Memorial Golf tournament was established in 1986 after Doug’s father passed away. This annual event raised thousands of dollars that were placed into the foundation and distributed by the AAG. Every year two scholarships were presented to one male and female Caldwell High School student.
Doug was preceded in death by his father and mother, Charlie and Gail Alvaro.
Doug is survived by his wife Amanda, his brothers Brad and Darin, and sisters Tammy, Anita, and Angie.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Caldwell High School.
