Donald Gene Good, 80, of Nampa, Idaho, passed away at home on Monday, February 6, 2017.
Don was born on May 29, 1936, to James Gilbert and Bernice Good in Springfield, Missouri. He had 2 younger sisters. Don’s father was drafted into the Navy in 1944. His mother took Don and his sister on the ‘troop train’ to Idaho where her parents were. Don began his education in Payette.
In 1947, the family moved to Hyline to farm. He graduated in 1953 at the age of 16.
Don joined the Navy in 1954. After serving 4 years, he began his lifetime career in the trailer manufacturing industry, working from the ground up. He was employed by Kit Manufacturing, Broadmore, and finally Fleetwood Enterprises where Don retired.
Don had a great love of learning and was an avid reader. His long list of accomplishments and hobbies included becoming a pilot, golfing (4 hole-in-ones), sailing and fishing--he loved the water, and touring the country roads on his Harley.
Don loved his family dearly and was known for his bear hugs.
Don is survived by his wife, Thelma, of 48 years; his daughters, Linda Damitz, Julie Sweet (Wally), Sandra Straight (John Lilly), and son Larry Prince (Cheryl), 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; his sisters, Joann Freitag(Russell) and Betty Wilson (Don). Don was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson.
The family wishes to thank Harrison Hope Hospice for their kindness during this difficult time.
Services will be held at the Dakan Funeral Chapel in Caldwell and include a viewing on Sunday, Feb. 12, from 3-5pm, and the funeral on Monday, Feb 13 at 1 pm. Burial will follow at Canyon Hill Cemetery.
