Don Martin, 98, of Homedale passed away from natural causes, Tuesday, October 3rd at a local care center. Grave side services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 9th at Marsing-Homedale Cemetery with Pastor Chuck Ryan officiating. Services are under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
Don was born in Caldwell on October 28, 1918 to George and Sylvia (McKague) Martin. He graduated from Homedale High School with the class of ’37.
He met and married Grace Adams in 1940 and to this union were born two children, Donnie in 1942 and Donna in 1945. Donnie passed away in 1960 at the age of 17.
In 1968, Don and Grace moved to LaGrande, Or. where he worked for the City of LaGrande until he retired in 1983. They returned to Homedale in 1995 to be closer to their family.
Don is survived by his daughter and husband, Donna and Harry Talley of Caldwell, his brother Henry (Ann) Martin of Hermitage, Tennessee and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Grace; son Donnie, grandsons, Adam Rose and D.J. Denn; parents George and Sylvia Martin, sisters; Lorraine Hayton and Pauline Preston, brother; C.R. Martin, brother and sister-in-law Keith & Bette Orris and nephews; Rick Orris, Roy Arnold and George Martin.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Marsing-Homedale Cemetery Mapping Fund at P.O. Box 452, Marsing, ID 83639 in Don and Grace’s name.
