Tribute

Colleen Y. Tallmon-Stufflebeam passed away on March 26, 2024, at the age of 93 years old. At West Valley Medical Center surrounded by family. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Canyon Hill Cemetery, in Caldwell. Services are under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel. Family and friends are asked to gather at the cemetery.
Mom was born November 16, 1930, to Orville Tallmon and Erma Emmons-Tallmon in Seattle, Washington. The family moved to the Treasure Valley in 1931 and then went to Waldport, Oregon. In 1935, the family returned to Caldwell with little brother Jim to manage the family business, “Emmons Tourist Park and Associated Oil” on the corner of Highway 30 and Kimball Ave. below Canyon Hill.
Mom went to school in Caldwell and graduated from CHS in 1948, at 14 years old she was baptized into the Christian faith at the Baptist Church. After high school, she enrolled in nurses training at St. Lukes Boise, she transferred to a dental program in San Francisco where she met her future husband, Virgil Stufflebeam, they were married after dad’s discharge from the Navy in 1952 in the “little brown church” in Nashua, Iowa. After returning to Caldwell, four children were born, Alan, Jean Ann, Verne Ray, and Marty. Dad graduated from College of Idaho in 1959 and the family moved to Battle Mountain, Nevada. In 1963 they moved to Palmdale, California, where mom would raise the family and dad would teach high school at Antelope Valley High School.
Mom and Dad moved back to Cadwell in 1980 and bought a home and Mom stayed until Dad retired from teaching in 1990. Dad passed away in 2004.
Mom enjoyed her grandkids and great-grandkids. She made baby blankets for each one when they were born and for the many babies that were born at the Nazarene Churches she attended.
Mom was much loved by family, friends, and relatives, and enjoyed holiday gatherings and church potlucks.
She was preceded in death by her mom and dad, brother Jim Tallmon, and sister-in-law Doris. Her Husband Virgil and daughter Jean Ann Hyde.
She is survived by her sons, Alan (Linda) Stufflebeam, Vern (Debbie) Stufflebeam, and Marty (Kim) Stufflebeam, all of Caldwell, nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
