Agnes Evelyn Keltner passed away peacefully on January 7, 2018 at age 94. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 11th at Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Condolences may be shared at www.dakanfuneralchapel.com
Agnes was born in Emmett, Idaho, to Beatrice Olsen Hoyt and George Hoyt on April 25, 1923. She endured many trials in her life, including the death of her father and two brothers at a young age, as well as the Great Depression. These experiences molded her into a strong, independent woman who demonstrated perseverance each day of her life.
Agnes raised her five children in Caldwell until an employment transfer with the Western Union forced her to move to Seattle, Washington, in 1973. Her life flourished in Seattle, making numerous lifelong friends and becoming active in the West Seattle Community. Agnes was a member of the West Seattle Eagles for almost 40 years. During that time she held several positions including the honor of Past Madam President and Permanent Grandmother. She volunteered at the American Cancer Society thrift store for many years. Her greatest love was bowling. At the ripe age of 94, Agnes was bowling on 4 leagues and maintained a 200 average! Earlier this year, her impressive bowling average was highlighted when she bowled a 300, 9 pin game. This fall, poor health brought her back home to Caldwell, where she was showered with love and compassion by her family members.
Agnes is survived by her children, Sharon Keltner, Carol and Gary Winters, Charley Keltner, Gary and Cindy Keltner, and Mary Vis; her grandchildren, Carrie O'Brien, Cami Grahm, Kevin Maybon, Kory Maybon, Mark Winters, Theresa Hernandez, Ben Keltner, Kyle Keltner, Shantell Mullanix, Nathan Vis, and Hailey Vis; and many great-grandchildren.
